Dino Depot is Survival Enhanced's primary creature storage system, using Dinoballs, terminals, and the Digitizer instead of vanilla cryopods.

How We Use Dino Depot: Survival Enhanced intentionally standardizes around Dino Depot. Vanilla cryopods/cryofridges are effectively locked out of normal progression, and the Cybers Structures cryo alternatives are disabled — Dino Depot is the supported storage system across the cluster.

Current Settings

Vanilla-style cryos automatically convert to Dinoballs where applicable. Maximum terminals in range: 3.

Babies in Storage

FeatureStatus
Age Inside DinoballsYes
Gain Imprint ProgressYes
Gain ExperienceYes
Mating Cooldown Continues While StoredYes

Depot Terminal

SettingValue
Requires PowerYes
Slots300
Max Terminals in Range3
Automatic Newborn CaptureDisabled

You can kill a stored dino directly from the terminal's UI without releasing it first — useful for clearing out unwanted or low-value creatures without having to pull them out to put them down.

Newborn Auto-Capture Is Off: the terminal does not automatically catch newborn babies, does not check for babies when activated, and does not capture newborn items. The mod's 8-foundation auto-capture range has no effect while this feature is disabled. If you want a newborn stored, you'll need to capture it into a Dinoball yourself.

Hurt Capture & Cryo-Prevention

SettingValue
Obeys Hurt CooldownYes
Minimum Qualifying Damage5% (0.05)
Cooldown Length60 seconds
Respects Cryo-Prevention BuffsYes

Capturing an injured dino follows hurt-cooldown rules: once a dino takes a hit for at least 5% of its max health, it can't be captured into a Dinoball for 60 seconds. Creatures with a cryo/capture-prevention buff (from bosses, certain PvP effects, etc.) also can't be captured while that buff is active.

Release Safety

SettingValue
Structure Overlap CheckEnabled
Dino Overlap CheckEnabled
Cave VolumesIgnored
Prevention VolumesNot Ignored
Nearby-Structure Restriction Range12 Foundations

Structure and dino overlap checks stop you from releasing a dino somewhere it would immediately be stuck or cause problems. Releases are allowed inside cave volumes, but still respect any release-prevention volumes (such as no-release zones around certain areas).

Dino Ball Throwing

SettingValue
Fire While RidingNot Allowed
Fire While SubmergedNot Allowed
Fire While RunningNot Allowed
Projectile Lifespan0.25 seconds
Submerged Projectile Lifespan0.1 seconds
Auto-Swap on ReleaseDisabled

Digitizer

SettingValue
Range20 Foundations
Fire Delay0.5 seconds
Fire While RidingNot Allowed
Fire While SubmergedAllowed
Fire While RunningNot Allowed

The Digitizer is the exception to the underwater rule above — unlike throwing a Dinoball directly, it can still be fired while you're submerged.

Passive Production

Both terminal passive production and baby passive production are disabled on Survival Enhanced. Dino Depot is not a passive resource-farming system here.

Restricted Creatures

A handful of creatures are blacklisted from Dino Depot capture, auto-capture, and release — Lumina and Gargantar. These are creatures that are also disabled from spawning on Survival Enhanced, and the Dino Depot blacklist exists so a previously-stored Dino Ball can't be used to bypass that restriction. See Disabled Dinos & Creatures for why each one is disabled.
