Decay keeps the map from filling up with permanently abandoned bases. Every structure tier has its own decay timer, and the clock only runs while a base is genuinely unvisited.
| Structure Tier | Decay Timer |
|---|---|
| Thatch | 7.5 Days |
| Wood / Adobe | 15 Days |
| Stone | 22.5 Days |
| Greenhouse | 28 Days |
| Metal / Vault | 30 Days |
| Tek | 37.5 Days |
Special Tek Structures
| Structure | Decay Timer |

| Tek Generator | 75 Days |
| Tek Transmitter | 75 Days |
| Tek Teleporter | 75 Days |
| Cryofridge (Ground-Placed) | 75 Days |
| Tek Trough | 150 Days |

Tamed Dinos
Approximately 30 days — the same timer also applies to Rafts and Meks.
What Players Need to Know
- The decay timer resets whenever a tribe member renders the area — simply being on the server isn’t enough if nobody actually visits that base.
- Logging in on a different map does not refresh a base on a map nobody is rendering.
- Each individual structure follows its own tier’s timer — a Wood ceiling sitting on an otherwise Metal base still decays on the Wood timer, not the Metal one.
- Only Vaults and Tek Dedicated Storage can outlive the foundation beneath them once it decays. Everything else is destroyed along with the foundation it’s attached to.
- Decayed dinos become claimable rather than deleted outright — anyone who finds them can claim them as their own.
- Isolated pillars and foundations (not part of a real base) decay significantly faster than normal structures, specifically to prevent abandoned land-claim spam.
